My Dear Friends,
This week, we learned about an unspeakable tragedy that happened to a family we love in our community. As everyone processes their own grief, I want you to know that we are all in this together. I wish I could put it more eloquently today, but the only thing I know is that I am just shattered by the loss, and I know so many others are, too.
We lost Yvette, Fei Fei, Barrett and Chris in an instant. Yvette was my friend. She was an advocate, an amazing Mom, and the type of person who would stop her day to help her fellow human, no matter what was going on in her life. She was funny, and sincere, and honest, and every time I talked to her I felt better about life. My family knew Fei Fei since the World Games in 2013, where my daughter and Fei Fei held hands during the entire opening ceremony. She was beautiful and funny and had a very deep, complex soul. I didn’t know Barrett yet (I had been hoping to meet him at the next conference), but I do know that he was already loved fiercely. I only knew Chris through Yvette, as a person she loved and appreciated, and who was the father to all of their beautiful children.
LPA, as well as the adoption community as a whole, has been devastated by this significant loss. We are here for the Kreb family in any way we can be, and extend our deepest sorrow. We want to remain respectful of their privacy, and wish them peace.
Little People of America offers our sincerest condolences to the Kreb family during this time of profound sorrow. Our community sadly lost two devoted parents and two beautiful LP children and we all feel devastated by this loss. We extend our empathy to all in our community whose lives were enriched by their friendship, guidance, love and support over the years.
In times of crisis such as this, it's hard to understand how these tragedies come to happen. It's also normal to feel inadequate and at a loss for order and control. We encourage you to be gentle to yourselves and others while we process the information and the pain it brings.
We ask that you do not engage in speculation of the events. The Kreb family deserves our respect and their privacy is an important part of their healing process. This LPA Parent Page is a private group, and all conversations held here should not be taken outside of this group. For the time being we will be monitoring this page and increasing our security on all LPA pages.
